Rubin, MS, RN, FNP, BC is a nurse practitioner at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She is an active member of the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS), the ONS Nurse Practitioner Special Interest Group, and the Boston Chapter of ONS. She is the chair of the Skin Cancer Committee of the Dermatology Nursing Society and a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
1. Explain the role of the hedgehog pathway in the pathogenesis of BCC, as well as the significance and safety profiles of new and investigational smoothened (SMO) antagonists for treatment of advanced BCC
2. Identify advantages and disadvantages of the major choices for treating locally advanced and metastatic BCC and use this information to more appropriately treat patients in the next month
